About Big Pans

The Big Pans entice your guests’ senses with the sounds from the food sizzling and smell of the food being freshly cooked in front of them. Giant whisky barrels are used as tables for the pans and we have a rustic country style display making it an exciting display for your guests to see.

The Big Pans are over 1 meter wide and we can cook over 120 portions in a Big Pan. Often we set up and serve outside under our catering tent with the food served directly from the pans. 

You can choose up to 3 big pan options one of which should be a vegetarian and/or vegan option. This then gives your guest a bit of variety and allows your guests to choose the dish and meal they want. 

All the big pan dishes are full meals that come with a range of accompaniments and sides that are listed with each dish.

The price of the big pan dishes include a chef, rustic display, quality disposable cutlery and plates (proper plates and cutlery available at an additional cost) and paper napkins.

Seafood Paella 

King prawns, squid, mussels and cockles cooked with sweet peppers, red onions and smoked garlic braised with traditional Spanish rice.

Accompanied by
a giant Mediterranean salad compromising of olives, sun blushed tomatoes, feta and sweet roasted vegetables.

Chicken & Chorizo Paella 

Marinated chicken breast and chorizo cooked with sweet peppers, red onions and smoked garlic braised with traditional Spanish rice topped with Serrano ham.

Accompanied by
a giant Mediterranean salad compromising of olives, sun blushed tomatoes, feta and sweet roasted vegetables.

Vegetarian Paella

Marinated vegetables with sweet red peppers, red onions and smoked garlic braised slowly in traditional Spanish rice topped with mozzarella and cherry tomatoes.

Accompanied by
a giant Mediterranean salad compromising of olives, sun blushed tomatoes, feta and sweet roasted vegetables.

Moroccan Lamb Tagine

Chunk of succulent lamb cooked in Moroccan spices with sun dried apricots, zesty lemon and tomatoes topped with freshly chopped coriander.

Accompanied by
couscous, mint yoghurts and herb salad.

Mexican Fajitas

Chicken strips cooked with fresh peppers, onions and fajita spices finished with fresh coriander.


Accompanied by 
tortilla wraps, salsas, guacamole, sour cream, jalapeños and grated cheese. 

Mexican Chilli

Primed seasoned mince beef cooked with fresh chillies, red onions, sweet peppers, tomatoes, kidney beans and seasoned with Mexican spices.

Accompanied by
seasoned nachos, sour cream, guacamole, spicy salsa and grated cheese.

Thai Green Curry

Succulent chicken pieces marinated in Thai spices cooked in creamy coconut topped with freshly chopped coriander.


Accompanied by
Jasmine rice and a mango and papaya salad.

Indian Curry - Other Curries Available

Marinated chicken breasts cooked with fresh chillies, red onions, sweet peppers, coriander and Indian spices that can be cooked for your preferred taste.

Accompanied by
popodums, mango chutney, onion relish, hot lime pickle and cucumber raita.

Italian Feast

Seasoned meatballs cooked in rich tomato, garlic and fresh basil sauce topped with mozzarella balls.


Accompanied by
​Freshly cooked pasta, bread sticks and grated parmesan cheese.

Stir Fry Chicken

Strips of chicken stir fried with a selection of finely sliced vegetables chilli ginger and oyster sauce topped with fresh coriander 

Accompanied by
egg fried rice, sweet chilli sauce and prawn crackers.

Beef Stroganoff 

Tender chunks of beef sliced onion and crushed garlic cooked in a paprika and brandy cream sauce finished with sliced gherkin and fresh tarragon. 

Accompanied by
steamed rice and freshy baked sliced crusty  bread

Jamaican Jerk Chicken

Chicken breast marinated for 12 hours in Jamaican jerk spices cooked with green peppers fresh chilli's and fresh ginger.

Accompanied by
Caribbean style rice and peas

Slow Braised Beef in Red Wine Sauce

Feather blade steak cooked in red wine with smoked bacon and baby onions and finished with fresh parsley. 

Accompanied by
creamy mashed potato and freshly baked sliced crusty bread

Hungarian Goulash 

Melt in the mouth beef with fresh onions, garlic potatoes and fresh tomatoes. Seasoned with paprika. 

Accompanied by
pickled peppers,fresh breads and a tomato salad. 

Mediterranean Vegetable Pasta 

Roasted courgettes, aubergine and red onion with sun blushed peppers bound in a rich tomato and basil sauce.

Accompanied by
Penne pasta and warm ciabatta

Caussoulet

A traditional French stew with belly pork, smoked sausage and confit duck cooked with cannellini beans, butter beans, fresh tomatoes and Provence herbs. 

Accompanied by
​Crusty French Bread 

Caribbean Curried Goat


​Succulent chunks of goat meat cooked with traditional Caribbean spices Scotch bonnet peppers and potatoes. 


Accompanied by
traditional rice and pea

Swedish Meatballs with
Cranberry Jam

Traditional pork meatballs cooked with fresh garlic, thyme and wild mushrooms finished with a creamy gravy. 

Accompanied by
crusty bread, cranberry jam, penne pasta

Roasted Butternut Squash Pasta

Roasted butternut squash and spinach pasta finished with fresh basil.

Accompanied by fresh crusty bread. 

Vegetarian Chilli with Quorn​

Quorn mince cooked with fresh chillies, red onions, sweet peppers, tomatoes, kidney beans and seasoned with Mexican spices.

Accompanied by seasoned nachos, sour cream, guacamole, spicy salsa and grated cheese.

Sweet Potato Caribbean Curry

Sweet potatoes cooked with Jamaican spices, ginger, peppers, pineapple and coconut milk.

Accompanied by rice and pea.

Moroccan Vegetable Tagine

Vegetables in Moroccan spices, sun dried apricots, zesty lemon and tomatoes, topped with freshly chopped coriander 

Accompanied by cous cous, herb salad and flat bread.

Wild Mushroom Stronganoff​

​Wild mushrooms with sliced onion and crushed garlic cooked in a paprika and brandy cream sauce finished with sliced gherkin and fresh tarragon.

Accompanied by steamed rice.

Fat Hog and Big Pan Catering offer full wedding and event catering options to meet your needs. We offer a vast range of catering including canapés, a range of starters, mains, desserts and evening catering. ​

We will discuss your requirements through with you to help you create a tailored catering package with the courses you want. 
We provide great fresh food and a personal service to our customers offering advice, support and being on hand to answer your questions about your function. 
Just about come back down to earth after such an amazing weekend, everything went so well.  I can’t thank you enough for your contribution to the day, you were brilliant, all we hoped for and much more.  

We’ve received lots of compliments about the food and the way everything was set out.  The chilli in the evening went down particularly well and everyone loved being able to see you cook it. I think the Big Pan idea is a great hit well done!  

Lots of people loved Chris’s patter and some were really surprised that he knew their names, forgetting that they were wearing name badges, it all went really well. I particularly love all the photos which Lindsey took before everyone arrived, I hadn’t seen the garden with everything finished so it’s lovely to have a record of all the bits and pieces we’d created in their various settings. 

I’d just like to wish you all the best for the future, you deserve it you work so hard. Many, many thanks once again.
